
March 15th and 16th Weekend
U16 Girls Fury got off to a good start Sunday, playing in their first BBSL league game this Spring, against the Freedom Soccer Club.
The Fury dominated play from the start and had numerous chances in the games first 20 minutes, with Kelsey Dyson taking five shots and just missing on several of those. Melissa Nickols opened the scoring with a shot that gave the Freedom keeper trouble and found the back of the net. The Fury had a large advantage in corner kicks but weren't able to convert until Janel Mayo was able to finish one from Hannah Kilduff. The half ended with the Fury up 2-0, and Maggie Olson not having been threatened very often.
The second half was similar to the first, with the Fury dominating the play for large stretches of time. Lacey Smith was able to connect on a goal after several good chances to up the score to 3-0. Christie Parrotte finished the scoring with another goal from the right side, that went in over the Freedom keeper, 4-0. The defense played well throughout in limiting the Freedom to a handful of chances, and one corner kick.
"Girls Player of the Week " award winner Jenny Donoghue from the U16 Fury girls team playing in BBSL this spring. Jenny led an impressive performance by the Fury defense holding their opponent to just 1 shot on goal. Jenny a four year member of the Fury team and attends Thomas Johnson HS.
March 29th and 30th Weekend
U10 Girls Crew defeat the MYAA Ravens 3-1 in FCYSL referee mentoring day game. The Crew back line players Sainabou Lowe, Rachel Bryan, Haley Sherman with an outstanding game by Crew goalie Isabelle O'Connell hold the high powered Raven offense to just 1 goal. Crew goals scored by Emily Lehman the Crew's first goal of the year, with Jordyn Crum and Maya Hannon scoring goals in the win over Ravens.
U12 Boys Cosmos playing in the MSI March Madness tournament in Montgomery Soccer Plex open the tournament first day with 3-1 win over Bethesda Strikers and ending with a resounding 5-0 win over MSI Cougars. Cosmos move into tournament final with 2-0 win over the MSI Musketeers. The back line players for the Cosmos have been outstanding this weekend allowing only one goal in the tournament.

The Hawks bounced back with two convincing wins while not conceding
any at the PWSI Icebreaker. They fell a point shy of 1st place, STA Rampage, ending up with 7 points in their bracket. Frank Carvajal put in two good shifts on Saturday to earn the Hawks man of the day. He held down the middle of the pitch making key tackles and pinpoint passes going forward. Patrick Claro made his mark on the tournament being involved in 3 of the Hawks 4 goals Sunday as the man of the day. The Hawks are hoping to this momentum into State Cup play next weekend and are showing promise in hopes of promotion in NCSL play.

U15 Boys Force competing in the PWSI Icebreaker Tournament in VA. The Force played in the lower division but finished as a semi-finalist. The Force won the preliminary sub-division with a victory over VISTA Phoenix (NCSL Div 7) 3-1 and tied NVSC Boca Jrs (NCSL Div 6) 1-1 on Saturday. We then took on the home team PWSI Courage 92 White (NCSL Div 7) and tied them 0-0 through overtime and lost in the PK's 5-4. Coach Howell described the ending has a "Heartbreaker!".
U16 Girls Fury run their BBSL league record to 2-0 with a solid performance despite being short handed with a 2-0 victory over the St. Mary's Flames. Both goals were scored in the first half. The first goal was scored by Mampy Beck
off a very well placed pass from Janel Mayo, and a nice finish. The second goal was scored by Melissa Nickols, after Mampy Beck crossed the ball in front of the goal, Melissa put it in off the post. The defense kept the shutout with some good work from goalie Maggie Olson, Erin Kilonski, Kelsey Dyson,Katie Mark, and Noelle Cipolla.
"Girls Player of the Week" - Mampy Beck from the U16 Fury girls takes this weeks girls player of the week award scoring the winning goal in a 2-0 victory against St. Mary's Flames and assisting on the second Fury goal.
"Boys Player of the Week"- Justin Lee from the U12 Cosmos boys team takes player of the week honors for the boys. Justin lead the Cosmos to their first major tournament win at the MSI March Madness tournament at the Sportsplex in Germantown. Justin tallied 4 goals and 2 assists over the weekend as the Cosmos go unbeaten in tournament play. Justin's biggest impact was felt not only in the scoring area, but in a solid performance in the midfield area where Justin helped the Cosmos maintain control throughout the tournament. Solid defense and some trimly goal scoring make Justin Lee the FSC Boy's Player of the Week".
April 5th and 6th Weekend
U10 Girls Crew get the FCYSL season off to a winning start with 4-0 win over Clover Hill. Jordyn Crum, Maya Hannon and Emily Lehman who scored two goals in the Crew victory. The Crew back line of Sainabou Lowe, Rachel Bryan, Haley Sherman and goalie Isabelle O'Connell dominated on the defensive side of the ball, limiting Clover Hill to only a hand full of shots on goal.
U8 CO-ED Thunder playing in the first game as a team defeat the CMAA-STMA 5-2 in FCYSL league actions ALexander Andrushko scores 2 goals with Andrew Avelar, Maggie Dailer and Ethan Firey adding goals in the win. Amanda Warfield playing aggressively, attaching the ball and moving the ball up the pitch was key to the Thunder victory.
U15 Boy's Force defeat the Cobras in MSI league action 5-0. In a thoroughly dominate display Javar Cruz-Nero scores four goals in the Force win on a combination of penalty kick, header and two solid shots past the Cobra goal keeper.
U12 Girls Predators drop close league game to the BASC Blaze 3-4 in a closely fought game.
U14 Boys Arsenal fall in MSI league action 0-3 to FC Clycones.
U12 Boys Cosmos defeat Bethesda Terminators 5-1 in MSI league action. The first Cosmos goal scored by Clark Beaudoin who took a pass from Andres Florez- Rico and one timed a shot to open the scoring for the Cosmos. Florez-Rico later headed home a corner kick from Steve Glaspell. Later in the first half Florez- Rico took a perfectly timed diagonal pass from Justin Lee to put the Cosmos up 3-0 heading to the break.
In second half action Carter Nininger put the exclamation point by adding 2 goals assisted by Alex Schaeberle and Andres Florez-Rico.
Andres Florez-Rico finished the day with 2 goals and 2 assists as the Cosmos
win.
U12 Boys Fusion defeat MAYAA team 1, 1-0 as Owen Fuste scores the winning Fusion goal with an assist from Jermey Meredith. The Fusion defense was outstanding in shutting down the MAYAA attack through out the game.
"Girls Player of the Week" - Rachel Bryan and Isabelle O'Connell from the U10 Crew win the Girls player of the week award. Isabelle and Rachel together held down the goal keeping duties for the Crew in their opening win shutting out a Clover Hill attack which scored over 25 goals the previous season. Key saves by the two Crew goalies makes Isabelle and Rachel the co-players of the week.
"Boys Player of the Week"- Javar Cruz-Nero from the U15 Force is player of the week. Javar tallied four goals in his teams 5-1 MSI league victory last Saturday. Goals were a combination of penalty kick, header, and two solid shots into the lower left corner. Put it simply Javar was thoroughly dominating say's coach Bill Howell.
April 12th and 13th Weekend
U8 CO-ED Thunder defeat LRC 7-4 on Saturday, Andrew Avelar scores 4 times, Mark Fulton adds 2 goals and Maggie Dailer a goal in the Thunder win. Playing their second game of the weekend the Thunder drop a close 2-3 game against the MAYAA Hotshots Andrew Avelar and Mark Fulton score the Thunder goals.
U10 Girls Crew defeat CYA Cougars 5-2 running their record to 2-0. Jordyn Crum scores 3 goals, Emily Lehman and Rachel Bryan each add a goal in the Crew win.
U12 Boys Fusion fall to USA Urbana 1-6 in FCYSL action on Saturday, Owen Fuste scores the lone Fusion goal.
U12 Cosmos defeat MSI foe Bethesda Lightning 4-1, Andres Florez - Rico nets 2 goals from assists by Justin Lee and Austin Rose. Other goals were by Justin Lee by Carter Nininger and Akheem Riley by Steve Glaspell.
Another solid defensive performance by the Cosmos. With constant ball pressure turned in to numerous turnovers by Bethesda.
Key contributors to the Cosmos victory were : Austin Rose, Zack Dorsey, Collin Woodruff, Akheem Riley and GK's Peter Crampton and Andrew Bryan.
U12 Girls Predators fall to WSA Wildcats 1-2 in FCYSL action.
U14 Boys Arsenal drop closely fought MSI league game 0-2 to the Bethesda Titans. Arsenal dominated the field of play but was unable to produce a victory on the score board.
U14 Girls Phanton defeat BBSL for United Furies 1-0, Emily Marshall scores the Phantom goal with an assist from Katie Usiak.
U15 Boys Force defeat the PVA Alliance 2-1 in MSI league action.
U16 Boys Hawks in State Cup play fought gallantly to a nill-nill draw in regualtion against the Baltimore Bays in which they dominated possession and the game. With many opportunities in regualtion, the Hawks could not find the back of the net to secure a win. In overtime, the Hawks ran out of gas and allowed 3 own goals before the Bays finally put in one of their own to win 4-0 against a nine man squad. Frank Carvajal served as the engine in the midfiled and earned man of the match honors depsite a game in which the referee and opposing coach claimed the result did not fit the effort put forth by the boys.

"Girls Player of the Week" - Casie Poindexter of the U14 Phantom lead her team to victory over the weekend making several outstanding saves in goal to help preserve a 1-0 Phantom win. Jordyn Crum of the U10 Crew is the other co-winner this week for her performance in the Crew's 5-2 win this past weekend. Jordyn scored the hat trick tallying 3 goals in the Crew victory.
"Boys Player of the Week"- Andres Florez - Rico of the U12 Cosmos is the boys winner this week. Andres netted 2 goals and an assist in his Cosmos teams win over MSI rival Bethesda Lightning sending the Cosmos off to a fast 2-0 start in the MSI season. Coach Paul Bryan say's " things happen everytime the balls on Andres foot".
April 19th and 20th Weekend
U10 Girls Crew improve to 3-0 with 4-0 win over LUYAA on Saturday. Emily Lehman scores two for the crew and adds an assist, Melissa Canaza and Jordyn add goals in the Crew win. The Crew back line once again shuts out an opponent with tough defense and timely goaltending from Rachel Bryan and Isabelle O'Connell.
U12 Girls Predators Another frustrating week of dominating on the field but not the score board for the Predators who drop another close game this time to MAYAA Mustangs 1-2.
U16 Boys Hawks squandered numerous chances while dominating play in the first league game in a 2 to 1 losing effort. Kevin Ruzbacki scored the lone goal for the Hawks assisted by Derek Windover in the last minute of the game to tie the game up in dramatic fashion. Unfortunately, the Hawks couldn't hold the lead giving up the winning goal seconds later.
U-15 Boys Force continued its winning streak with a tight 1-0 victory over the Pachuca. The defense was outstanding again with the back four and inside midfielders doing an exceptional job of restricting any reasonable shot. Even with goalie Fredy Velasquez somewhat hobbling with a bad ankle, the defense kept the Pachuca well away from any scoring opportunity, continually switching folks and helping each other out frequently. The sole goal came in the first half as Ryan Vitanza had a breakaway that he cooly slotted into the lower right corner of the goal.
"Girls Player of the Week" - Emily Lehman of the U10 Girls Crew lead her team to its third victory of the season with her second multiple scoring game of the year. With two goals and an assist in a 4-0 victory over LUYAA, Emily Lehman is the FSC Girls Player of the Week.
"Boys Player of the Week"- CO-Players of the Week - Matt Izzarry of the U15 Force who as stopper continually handled the top offensive player for the other team. His aggressive and never quit attitude enabled him to win balls consistently and push the ball out of danger and Kevin Ruzbacki of the U16 Hawks with some outstanding play this past weekend in the Hawks NCSL game.
Kevin is in his 2nd year with FSC and as a current sophomore at Tuscarora is a member of the Varsity Boys Soccer Team.
April 26th and 27th Weekend
U15 Boys Force continued their winning ways with a 3-1 victory against the second place Falcons and have built a 5 point lead in the MSI top division. After a defense dominated first half, the Falcons struck first. The Force came back strong and scored three straight over the final 20 minutes. Two goals came off breakaways by Ryan Vitanza who showed maturity in taking time to strike the good shot. In between the Force scored on a corner with Zach Orton setting up Chris Howell's goal. The Force dominated the final 20 minutes with the center middies, Matt Johnston, Matt Eyler, and Mark Breslin maintaining strong control of the ball and pushing things forward.

U10 Girls Crew defeat GVAA Wildcats 5-1 improving their record to 4-0. Melissa Canaza and Jordyn Crum each score twice, with Emily Lehman adding a goal in the Crew win. The Crew back line of Sainabou Lowe, Haley Sherman, Rachel Bryan, Isabelle O'Connell shut down the high powered Wildcat offense with another outstanding defensive effort.

U16 Boys Hawks avenged an early spring PWSI tounament loss to defeat the BRYC Raptors 2-0. The Hawks improve to 1-1 in NCSL play. The Hawk goals score by Kevin Razbacki.
U19 Boys United defeated the Lee-Mount Vernon Patriots '90 on Sunday by a score of 6-0 at South Run Park in Springfield, Virginia. The Patriots started the match several men down and added players as they arrived. They played the remainder of the match 10 v 11. Lionel Moser tallies 3 goals for United in their NCSL victory.
U8 CO-ED Thunder defeat WNMWRC Wilscates 8-0 improving their record to 3-1. The Thunder was lead by Mark Fulton who scored 4 goals in the win. Maggie Dailer talled two goals with Giselle Canaza and Andrew Avelar also scoring for the Thunder.
U12 Boys Cosmos being tied 1-1 at halftime. The Cosmos erupted for 8 goals in the second half to break open a tight game and cruise to a 9-4 victory over Real Potomac.The win improves the Cosmos' record to 3-0.The scoring was lead by Andres Florez Rico with 3 goals and 1 assist. Other goals were by Steve Glaspell with 2 goals and 1 assist,Justin Lee with 2 goals, Ahkeem Riley with 1 goal and 2 assists and Zack Dorsey with 1 goal and 1 assist. Other assists were by Andrew Bryan with 1 and Collin Woodruff with another solid performance from the wing midfield position with 3 assists in the first 7 minutes of the second half.
"Girls Player of the Week" - Noelle Cipolla U16 Fury is this weeks Girls Player of the Week. Noelle played a super game Sun against 1 of the better teams in our Div. It started w/ her blowing a girl up on a hard, clean tackle and she controlled the center of the field from then on. Most of their play was on the wings after that tackle, which came at abt the 10 min mark. Noey goes up hard for every header, hard into every 50/50 and always gives her maximum effort. Coach Beck "I wouldn't want to play against her, but love all she does for her team".
"Boys Player of the Week" - Lionel Moser U17 Boys United is the Boys Player of the Week winner. Lionel netted 3 goals in his teams 6-0 win over NCSL foe Lee Mount Patoriots.
May 3rd and 4th Weekend
U8 Boys Thunder in a battle for first place play the CMAA Red Rockets to a 3-3 draw, Mark Fulton, Ethan Firery and Andrew Avelar score the Thunder goals. Thunder playing back to back days then defeated MAYAA Cougars 2-0, Mark Fulton and Alexander Andrushko scored the Thunder goals.
U15 Boys Force defeat the local LUYAA Lancers 1 - 0. The game was well dominated by the Force but we had trouble getting the ball into the net. Ryan Vitanza scored early in the second half from a jumble in front of the net. After that, Ryan, Zach Orton, and Justin Jones had several opportunities that just skimmed by. Javar Cruz-Nero and Zach served several good balls up for the shooters. Coach Howell "The defense just flat dominated limiting the Lancers to only one credible shot for the game". The Force sit alone atop the U15 Div. 1 MSI standings.
U14 Boys Arsenal dominated yet another game offensively and held MSI division leaders Toca Jrs. to a 1-1 draw. Outstanding play from all players today. Watch out for Arsenal in the second half of the season.
U10 Girls Crew drop their first game of the year 1-3 to Urbana. The Crew offense was only able to tally one goal out of 15 shots at the goal.
U14 Girls Phanton drop close BBSL game Friday night to Freedom Flames 1-2, Holly Hipe scored the lone Phanton goal at Freedom Park.
On Saturday the Phanton were back on the pitch dominating play against the Middletown Future 3-0, Holly Johnson, Liz Byard and Katie Usiak score the Phanton goals. Get this the Phanton took the pitch for the 3rd stright day in a BBSL battle and dropped two goals by Holly Kipe and Danielle Duffy on CSC Spirit. Now that's a weekend of soccer, last report no one missed school on Monday either.
U12 Girls Predators fall to WMTP Wildcats 4-0 after a long drive to Williamsport to play.
U16 Boys Hawks took one of two in NCSL play over the weekend with John Mader leading the scoring attack Saturday in a 6-0 victory over The Burke Virginia Foo Fighters in which he contributed a goal and an assist (John kicked it and the opposing team kicked it in!) Mickey Wrisley and John Vitarello also netted one apiece and Patrick Claro scored two. Corey Nininger scored the lone goal on Sunday as the Hawks dominated play and got countered twice to lose 2-1 to the Arsenal of Stafford Virginia. The Hawks now sit at 2-2 in NCSL play.
U12 Boys Fusion fall to the CMAA White Sparks 6-2, Jeremy Meredith and Sean Gribben score the fusion goals. On Sunday the Fusion was on the pitch again dropping a hard fought game against LUYAA 2-0.
U12 Boys Cosmos get two goals a piece from Justin Lee, Patrick Kile and Zack Dorsey. Carter Nininger netted a lone goal as the Cosmos defeate MSI Coyotes 7-1. Assists were by Colin Woodruff with 2, Peter Crampton,Steve Glaspell,Clark Beaudoin and Carter Nininger. The Cosmos back line limited the Coyotes to 5 shots on goal.
U12 Boys Cosmos Justin Lee had 2 goals and an assist and Akheem Riley had 2 assists to lead the Cosmos to a 4-1 victory over the Toca Jrs. Red.
Carter Nininger and Andres Florez-Rico also had goals.
The wins over the weekend raises our record to 5-0.
"Player of the Week Winner" - This weeks "Player of the Week is Mark Fulton of the U8 Thunder. Mark lead his team to first place draw on Satuday scoring the go ahead goal, a late game goal by CMAA spoiled a win. On Sunday Mark was back on the pitch leading his team again to a 2-0 win over MAYAA Cougars. On two other occasions this season Mark has scored multiple goals in Thunder win.
May 10th and 11th Weekend
U16 Boys Hawks trounced the Reston Virginia 91 Rovers Saturday 3-0 to improve to 3-2 and climbed to 3rd place in league play. In the engine room, Patrick Claro dominated the middle of the park by dictating play in earning man of the match honors. Claro set up the 1st goal spraying the ball wide to John Mader who crossed it in to Kevin Ruzbacki who headed the ball right at the keeper. Fortunately, Mickey Wrisley was there to clean up the garbage. Minutes later, Wrisley again scored on a brilliant touch past the last defender to slot home. Tyler Stull set up the play from the flank from another diagonal ball from Claro. Up 2-0 at half, the Hawks added a 3rd as Ruzbacki's shot was saved with Corey Nininger cleaning up. Michael Hassett and Matt Bertram combined for the shutout.
U15 Boys FSC Force met bitter defeat at the hands of the Tacoma Park AC 2-1 in a game that the Force dominated in minutes on ball and shots on goal. Unfortunately, the Takoma team scored twice on their three shots, while the Force through Chris Howell could only tally once. The midfield play of Scott Kindl, Mark Breslin, Matt Eyler, Matt Johnston, Timothy Maggi, Jacob Alvarez and Zach Orton was strong both defensively as well as distributing the ball. Though the team encountered its first defeat, it was still able to secure its first championship of MSI Division 1. Congrats to the hard working and playing boys!
